The club was formed in 1964 to take over the cycling section of Parramatta Police Boys Club.

The formation committee included George Bonham (father of Ron), George Bates (father of Rob) and Ernie Smith (not the photographer).

Club was originally established as the Parramatta City Amateur Cycling Club and conducted its road races in Parramatta Park and Junction Road Baulkham Hills. Track racing was at Wiley Park.

In 1967 the Club raised funds to help restore Merrylands Oval cycling track and, with the assistance of the Holroyd City Council, had lights installed on the track. At that time the Club changed its name to Parramatta Holroyd Amateur Cycling Club. The name was changed to Parramatta Cycling Club in the mid 1990’s.

Club colours have always been blue and gold. These have varied from the original blue and gold V, blue and gold band, white, blue and gold to today’s modern blue and gold jersey featuring club and sponsors names.
